Cheltenham Town 3 – AFC Wimbledon 1: Visitors to Jonny-Rocks Stadium leave with nothing

Cheltenham Town’s 3-1 win over AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, was hard fought at Jonny-Rocks Stadium. Cheltenham Town were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. AFC Wimbledon lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Lincoln City. After today’s result, Cheltenham Town and AFC Wimbledon currently occupy 12th and 21st spots in the league, with 50 points and 33 points respectively after 39 matches.
The first half of the game started well for AFC Wimbledon, with a goal from Jack Rudoni, 26 minutes in, seeing out the first half 0-1.
Cheltenham Town continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Callum Wright finding the net in the 81st minute. Cheltenham Town looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from George Lloyd after 83 minutes to establish a 2-1. Cheltenham Town then scored again and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Alfie May just before the final whistle to make it 3-1.

For Cheltenham Town, Charlie Colkett, Aaron Ramsey and George Lloyd, came on for Elliot Bonds, Liam Sercombe and Andy Williams, AFC Wimbledon brought on Zach Robinson, Paul Kalambayi and Derick Osei Yaw to replace Sam Cosgrove, Dapo Mebude and Ayoub Assal.
There were bookings for Charlie Raglan and Ben Williams from Cheltenham Town, and Anthony Hartigan, for AFC Wimbledon.
