Charlton Athletic 2 – Shrewsbury Town 0: Visitors unable to get win at The Valley

Charlton Athletic strolled past Shrewsbury Town with a 2-0 win on Saturday at The Valley. Charlton Athletic were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match. Shrewsbury Town, on the other hand, secured a point against Doncaster Rovers in their previous match. As the table looks today, Charlton Athletic are currently 12th with 59 points from 45 matches, while Shrewsbury Town sit in 17th, with 50 points from 45.

After an un-eventful first half, Charlton Athletic applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Jayden Stockley, 64 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Chuks Aneke just before the final whistle to make it 2-0.

For Charlton Athletic, Chuks Aneke and Daniel Kanu, came on for Alex Gilbey and Conor Washington. Shrewsbury Town brought on Tom Bloxham, to replace Daniel Udoh.

Charlton Athletic will next travel to Ipswich Town, while Shrewsbury Town will face Wigan Athletic at home.
