Charlton Athletic on home loss to Milton Keynes Dons at The Valley on Tuesday. Charlton Athletic were looking to continue their good run after winning their previous two games in the competition. The most recent was against the Shrewsbury Town away (1-0), the other to Portsmouth FC at home (3-0), while Milton Keynes Dons were beaten 1-0 in their previous match against Wycombe Wanderers. Following a goalless first half, Milton Keynes Dons continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Will Grigg gave them the lead on the 66 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Bradley Johnson, at 78 minutes to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Charlton Athletic included Jack Payne, Chuks Aneke, Steven Sessegnon, Albie Morgan and Conor McGrandles for Tyreece Campbell, Jayden Stockley, Charlie Kirk, Scott Fraser and George Dobson, respectively. Milton Keynes Dons replaced Dawson Devoy, Mo Eisa, Matt Smith and Darragh Burns with Louie Barry, Will Grigg, Henry Lawrence and Josh McEachran.

The referee booked Ryan Inniss and Ryan Inniss (2 yellow cards) saw the red card, for Charlton Athletic.
