Cambridge 0 – Port Vale 1: Visitors secure points with win at Abbey Stadium

Port Vale defeated Cambridge Utd 1-0 on Saturday at Abbey Stadium. Cambridge arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-0 to Sheffield Wednesday. Port Vale had secured a point against Forest Green Rovers in their previous match. Cambridge are now in 18th place on the table and have 16 points while Port Vale sit in 14th with 19 points after 15 matches.

Following a goalless first half, Port Vale continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Paul Digby gave them the lead in the 79th minute, seing the match finish 1-0.

Substitutions for Cambridge included Fejiri Okenabirhie, Joe Ironside, Lewis Simper and Shilow Tracey for Greg Taylor, Harvey Knibbs, Liam O’Neil and Jack Lankester, respectively. Port Vale brought on Aidan Stone, Samson Robinson, Daniel Butterworth, Dan Jones and Harry Charsley, to replace Jack Stevens, David Worrall, Tom Pett, Malvind Benning and Gavin Massey.

There were bookings for Lewis Simper from Cambridge, and David Worrall, Gavin Massey and Tom Conlon, for Port Vale.

Cambridge will play their next fixture away against Wycombe Wanderers, while Port Vale will face Ipswich Town at home.
