Cambridge Utd snatched all three points from Burton Albion in a 4-3 victory on Saturday, at Abbey Stadium. Cambridge wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Charlton Athletic. Burton Albion lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Port Vale. As the table looks today, Cambridge are in 7th place in the table and have 10 points while Burton Albion sit in 24th with 1 point after 6 matches.

Burton Albion started the first half well, with an early goal from Gassan Ahadme in the 1st minute. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Sam Smith managed to equalize and take the sides off in the 34th minute at 1-1. Burton Albion in turn, then responded just before halftime increasing their lead with an effort from John Brayford. The score at half time was 2-1.

Cambridge started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Sam Smith found the net again in the 53rd minute. However, each side looked hungry to win and Burton Albion then found the back of the net, 67 minutes in thanks to Gassan Ahadme, taking the score to 3-2. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Sam Smith in the 69th minute brought Cambridge level. However they weren’t finished yet and Liam O’Neil made it 4-3 at the 79 minute mark with a final score of 4-3.

Both coaches used the full entitlement. Substitutions for Cambridge included Liam O’Neil, Jack Lankester and Zeno Ibsen Rossi for Paul Digby, Harvey Knibbs and Shilow Tracey, repectively, Burton Albion brought on Tyler Onyango, Joe Powell and Victor Adeboyejo to replace Williams Kokolo, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Calum Butcher.

The referee booked Paul Digby and Jack Lankester from Cambridge. Burton Albion had the worst of it though, with Tom Hamer, Gassan Ahadme, John Brayford and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson seeing yellow, and Jonny Smith then sent off with a red.

Cambridge will next play Lincoln City at home, with Burton Albion facing Oxford United away.
