Cambridge 0-3 Barnsley: No trouble for The Tykes at Abbey Stadium
Cambridge on home loss to Barnsley at Abbey Stadium on Saturday. Cambridge arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-1 to Cheltenham Town. Barnsley, meanwhile, had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Port Vale. Cambridge are now in 9th place, with 13 points from 10 matches, while Barnsley sit in 6th, with 14 points from 10.
Barnsley started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Devante Cole opened the rout on the 24 minute mark, finishing the first half 1-0.
The Tykes continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Robbie Cundy on the 76 minute mark. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from James Norwood just before the full time to make it 3-0.
Substitutions for Cambridge included Joe Ironside, Adam May, Saikou Janneh and Jack Lankester for James Brophy, Liam O’Neil, Shilow Tracey and Harvey Knibbs, respectively. Barnsley replaced Jamie Searle, Nicky Cadden, James Norwood and Josh Benson with Bradley Collins, Tom Edwards, Luke Thomas and Jack Aitchison.
The referee booked Harrison Dunk and Sam Smith from Cambridge. Barnsley had the worst of it though, with Liam Kitching, Devante Cole and Luke Thomas seeing yellow, and Liam Kitching (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.
