Burton Albion 0 – Shrewsbury Town 2: Visitors at Pirelli Stadium secure victory

Shrewsbury Town’s 2-0 win over Burton Albion on Saturday, was hard fought at Pirelli Stadium. Burton Albion wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Sunderland AFC. Shrewsbury Town, on the other hand, lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Portsmouth FC. After today’s result, Burton Albion are currently 14th with 44 points from 36 matches, while Shrewsbury Town sit in 17th, with 37 points from 36.

Shrewsbury Town started the first half well, thanks to Tom Bloxham giving Shrewsbury Town the lead, 35 minutes in, which saw the first half end 0-1.

Shrewsbury Town continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Matthew Pennington, 59 minutes in, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

Both managers used all available substitutions. For Burton Albion, Adlene Guedioura, Omar Niasse and Harry Chapman, came on for Charlie Lakin, Jonny Smith and Michael Mancienne, Shrewsbury Town brought on Aaron Pierre, Saikou Janneh and Josh Daniels, to replace Tom Bloxham, Daniel Udoh and Elliott Bennett.

Shrewsbury Town and Burton Albion will next play away to Cambridge Utd and Oxford United respectively.
