Burton Albion 3-2 Forest Green: Brewers win basement battle against Rovers

On Saturday, Forest Green Rovers suffered an away defeat to Burton Albion at Pirelli Stadium. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Burton Albion arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing their last match 2-1 to Shrewsbury Town, while Rovers were beaten 4-0 in their previous match against Exeter City. Burton Albion and Rovers currently occupy 23rd and 22nd spots in the table, with 7 points and 8 points respectively after 12 matches.

Burton Albion started strongly in the first half, when Victor Adeboyejo gave them the lead after only 6 minutes, concluding the first half 1-0.

Rovers started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, thanks to a goal from Reece Brown, 52 minutes in. The momentum was again with The Green, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Connor Wickham in the 69th minute to establish a 2-1 result. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Victor Adeboyejo managing to equalize in the 82nd minute 2-2. However they weren’t finished yet and Victor Adeboyejo made it 3-2 just before the full time to give a final score of 3-2.

Burton Albion brought on Mustapha Carayol, Sam Winnall, Calum Butcher and Elliot Thorpe for Jonny Smith, Davis Keillor-Dunn, Terry Taylor and Joe Powell. Rovers brought on Josh March and Myles Peart-Harris, to replace Bryan Fiabema and Ben Stevenson.

The referee booked Adedeji Oshilaja and Tom Hamer saw the red card, for Burton Albion.

Burton Albion will next travel to Peterborough United, while Rovers will face Bolton Wanderers at home.
