Bolton Wanderers 4 – Fleetwood Town 2: Visitors unable to get win at University of Bolton Stadium

Bolton Wanderers defeat Fleetwood Town 4-2 on Saturday at University of Bolton Stadium. Bolton Wanderers were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two games against Cheltenham Town away and Accrington Stanley at home, by 2-1 and 3-1 respectively. Fleetwood Town are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following the final whistle at the end of the last game of the League One season, Bolton Wanderers are in 9th place on the table and has 73 points while Fleetwood Town sit in 20th with 40 points after 46 matches.

Fleetwood Town started the game well, with Barry Baggley giving Fleetwood Town the lead in the 17th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Dion Charles equalised for Bolton Wanderers, 37 minutes in to see out the first half 1-1.

Bolton Wanderers staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to a goal from Declan John in the 53rd minute. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Joe Garner in the 79th minute, brought Fleetwood Town level. However, each side looked hungry to win and Bolton Wanderers then found the back of the net in the 86th minute thanks to Dion Charles, taking the score to 3-2. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Jon Bodvarsson just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-2.

Bolton Wanderers brought on Elias Kachunga, Jon Bodvarsson and Alex Baptiste for Kieran Sadlier, Amadou Bakayoko and George Thomason. Fleetwood Town brought on Daniel Batty, Zak Jules and Shayden Morris, to replace Barry Baggley, Tom Clarke and Dylan Boyle.

The referee booked two players from Fleetwood Town, Dylan Boyle and Joe Garner.
