Bolton Wanderers 3 – Accrington Stanley 1: Visitors unable to get win at University of Bolton Stadium

Bolton Wanderers enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Accrington Stanley at University of Bolton Stadium on Monday. Bolton Wanderers were looking to pick up points, following a 2-1 victory against Doncaster Rovers. Accrington Stanley, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Burton Albion. After today’s result, Bolton Wanderers and Accrington Stanley sit 9th, (67 points) and 14th, (55 points), in the league respectively, after 44 matches.
It was an impressive opening from Bolton Wanderers, thanks to Oladapo Afolayan finding the net just before half-time
Accrington Stanley started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from Jay Rich-Baghuelou in the 50th minute. However, each side looked hungry to win and Bolton Wanderers then found the back of the net, 69 minutes in thanks to Jon Bodvarsson, taking the score to 2-1. However they weren’t finished yet and Jon Bodvarsson made it 3-1 just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-1.
For Bolton Wanderers, Kieran Sadlier, Amadou Bakayoko and Jon Bodvarsson, came on for Xavier Amaechi, Dion Charles and Elias Kachunga. Accrington Stanley brought on Joe Pritchard and Liam Coyle, to replace Mitchell Clarke and Seamus Conneely.
The referee booked Oladapo Afolayan, Declan John, Xavier Amaechi and Jordan Williams from Bolton Wanderers. Accrington Stanley had the worst of it though, with Mitchell Clarke, Sean McConville, Jay Rich-Baghuelou and Seamus Conneely seeing yellow, and Rosaire Longelo then sent off with a red.
Bolton Wanderers will play their next fixture away against Cheltenham Town, while Accrington Stanley will face Lincoln City at home.
