Barnsley 1-1 Port Vale: Valiants hold out for a good point against the Tykes

On Tuesday, Barnsley and Port Vale played out a 1-1 draw at Oakwell Ground. Barnsley were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning last match. Port Vale, meanwhile, had secured a point against Cheltenham Town in their previous match. Barnsley and Port Vale are 11th, (11 points) and 17th, (9 points), spots respectively, after 9 matches.

Barnsley started the first half well, when Liam Kitching gave them the lead just before half-time

Port Vale took the lead in the second half, when Ellis Harrison found the net, 83 minutes in, seing the match finish 1-1.

Substitutions for Barnsley included Matty Wolfe, Josh Martin, Adam Phillips and James Norwood for Herbie Kane, Jack Aitchison, Luke Thomas and Devante Cole, respectively. Port Vale replaced James Wilson, Lewis Cass, Gavin Massey, Dennis Politic and Daniel Butterworth with Ademipo Odubeko, William Forrester, Connor Hall, Tom Pett and David Worrall.

The referee booked Devante Cole, James Norwood, Liam Kitching and Luca John Connell for Barnsley.

Barnsley will play their next fixture away against Cambridge Utd, while Port Vale will face Shrewsbury Town at home.
