Barnsley 2-0 Rovers: Job done for The Tykes in clean sheet home win

Forest Green Rovers fell to an away defeat at the hands of Barnsley at Oakwell Ground on Saturday. Barnsley were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 1-0 to Lincoln City. Rovers had secured a point against Fleetwood Town in their previous match. Barnsley are now in 7th place on the table and have 24 points while Rovers sit in 22nd with 13 points after 17 matches.

Barnsley started the match strongly, when Devante Cole gave them the lead on the 15 minute mark to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

The Tykes once more applied the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Josh Martin found the net on the 83 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Barnsley included Robbie Cundy, Adam Phillips, Slobodan Tedic, Josh Martin and Fabio Jalo for Jordan Williams, Herbie Kane, James Norwood, Devante Cole and Josh Benson, respectively. Rovers brought on Kyle McAllister, Armani Little, Jamille Matt and Bryan Fiabema, to replace Harvey Bunker, Myles Peart-Harris, Connor Wickham and Harry Boyes.

The referee booked Liam Kitching for Barnsley.

Barnsley will play their next fixture away against Shrewsbury Town, while Rovers will face Wycombe Wanderers at home.
