AFC Wimbledon 0 – Lincoln City 2: Visitors ecstatic after win at Plough Lane

AFC Wimbledon fell to a home defeat at the hands of Lincoln City at Plough Lane on Saturday. AFC Wimbledon were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Wigan Athletic. Lincoln City were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday in their last match. After today’s result, AFC Wimbledon are in 20th place, with 33 points from 38 matches, while Lincoln City sit in 16th, with 41 points from 38.

Lincoln City started the first half well, thanks to Lewis Fiorini finding the net, at 38 minutes, to take a 0-1 lead into half time.

Lincoln City continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Teddy Bishop at the 84 minute mark and seeing the game end 2-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For AFC Wimbledon, Paul Osew, Terry Ablade and Anthony Hartigan, came on for Cheye Alexander, Ayoub Assal and Luke McCormick, Lincoln City brought on Teddy Bishop, Cohen Bramall and Adam Jackson, to replace Lasse Sorensen, Morgan Whittaker and Timothy Eyoma.

The referee booked Dapo Mebude, Lee Brown, Zach Robinson and Anthony Hartigan from AFC Wimbledon. Lincoln City had the worst of it though, with Lewis Fiorini, Chris Maguire and Timothy Eyoma seeing yellow, and Brooke Norton-Cuffy then sent off with a red.

AFC Wimbledon will next travel to Cheltenham Town, while Lincoln City will face Sunderland AFC at home.
