AFC Wimbledon 0 – Cambridge 1: Visitors secure points with win at Plough Lane

Cambridge Utd enjoyed a mesmerising away victory against AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane on Saturday. Both sides came from defeats in their previous league games. AFC Wimbledon were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 3-1 to Cheltenham Town. Cambridge, on the other hand, lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Milton Keynes Dons. As it stands, AFC Wimbledon are in 21st place on the table and has 33 points while Cambridge sit in 16th with 48 points after 40 matches.

Cambridge dominated the first half, thanks to Adam May giving Cambridge the lead just before half-time, finishing the first half 0-1. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-0.

For AFC Wimbledon, Nesta Guinness-Walker, Ayoub Assal, Dapo Mebude and Ethan Chislett, came on for Paul Osew, Derick Osei Yaw, Jack Rudoni and Sam Cosgrove. Cambridge replaced Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs and James Brophy for Wes Hoolahan, Shilow Tracey and Sam Sherring.

There were bookings for Sam Cosgrove, Jack Rudoni and William Nightingale from AFC Wimbledon. For Cambridge, Shilow Tracey and Paul Digby saw yellow.

Next up, AFC Wimbledon are away to Sheffield Wednesday, whilst Cambridge will travel to face Ipswich Town.
