Zürich 1 – Arsenal 2: The Gunners, fearless, go to Letzigrund and win

Zürich suffer a first loss against Arsenal in their first match of the new Europa League Group Stage season. Today’s result, Zürich are currently 4th with 0 points from 1 match, while Arsenal sit in 1st, with 3 points from 1.

It was an impressive opening from The Gunners, when Marcus Vinicius gave them the lead on the 16 minute mark. However, their lead was short-lived, as Mirlind Kryeziu equalised for Züri Akademie just before half-time, which brought Franco Foda’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

Arsenal continued to pile on the pressure in the second period, when Edward Nketiah gave them the lead on the 62 minute mark, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Zürich included Fabian Rohner, Cheick Oumar Conde, Antonio Marchesano, Donis Avdijaj and Ivan Santini for Adrian Guerrero, Blerim Dzemaili, Bledian Krasniqi, Jonathan Okita and Tosin Aiyegun, respectively. Arsenal brought on Oleksandr Zinchenko, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus for Kieran Tierney, Fabio Vieira, Marcus Vinicius and Edward Nketiah.

The referee booked Mirlind Kryeziu for Zürich.

In the second round of action in the Europa League Group Stage Zürich will travel to play Bodo Glimt and Arsenal will play PSV at home.
