Arsenal 1-0 Zürich: Early Tierney goal enough for The Gunners

Arsenal defeated Zürich 1-0 on Thursday at Emirates Stadium. Arsenal were looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last match 2-0 to PSV whilst Zürich had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 2-1 victory against Bodo Glimt. Following this match, Arsenal and Zürich are 1st (15 points) and 4th (3 points) in the final table respectively, after a total of 6 matches.

Arsenal started strongly in the first half, thanks to a goal from Kieran Tierney in the 17th minute and saw the first half out 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Arsenal included Thomas Partey, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares for Mohamed Elneny, Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, respectively. Zürich replaced Antonio Marchesano, Marc Hornschuh, Bogdan Vyunnik, Bledian Krasniqi and Ivan Santini with Fabian Rohner, Ole Selnaes, Tosin Aiyegun, Cheick Oumar Conde and Fidan Aliti.

There were bookings for Gabriel Magalhaes from Arsenal. For Zürich, Fidan Aliti, Nikola Katic and Cheick Oumar Conde saw yellow.
