Trabzonspor 2 – Red Star Belgrade 1: Home fans rewarded with victory at Medical Park Arena

Trabzonspor banked all three points against the Red Star Belgrade in a 2-1 victory on Thursday, at Medical Park Arena. Both Trabzonspor and Red Star Belgrade arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Trabzonspor were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 3-2 to Ferencváros, while Red Star Belgrade had lost their previous match against AS Mónaco. Trabzonspor and Red Star Belgrade are 2nd, (3 points) and 4th, (0 points), spots respectively, after 2 matches.

Trabzonspor started the first half well, when Marek Hamsik found the net in the 16th minute, to take a 1-0 lead into half time.

Trabzonspor continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Trezeguet in the 68th minute. In the end though, Red Star Belgrade pull-back via a Veljko Nikolic goal just before the full time, seing the match finish 2-1.

Substitutions for Trabzonspor included Enis Bardhi, Abdulkadir Omur, Vitor Hugo, Umut Bozok and Montasser Lahtimi for Marek Hamsik, Maxi Gomez, Jens Stryger Larsen, Abdulkadir Omur and Djaniny, respectively. Red Star Belgrade replaced Aleksandar Katai, Kalifa Coulibaly, Ibrahim Mustapha, Veljko Nikolic and Radovan Pankov with Slavoljub Srnic, Aleksandar Pesic, Sekou Sanogo, Osman Bukari and Kanga Guelor.

The referee booked Djaniny and Evren Eren Elmali from Trabzonspor. Red Star Belgrade had the worst of it though, with Kings Kangwa, Sekou Sanogo and Aleksandar Katai seeing yellow, and Kings Kangwa (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Trabzonspor will next travel to AS Mónaco, while Red Star Belgrade will face Ferencváros at home.
