Betis 3 – Ludogorets 2: Visitors to Benito Villamarin leave with nothing

Razgrad Ludogorets fell to an away defeat at the hands of Real Betis at Benito Villamarin on Thursday. Both Betis and Ludogorets arrived on the back of wins. Betis were looking to continue their good run after winning last match. Ludogorets, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Roma. Betis are now in 1st place on the table and have 6 points while Ludogorets sit in 3rd with 3 points after 2 matches.

The Green-and-Whites started the match strongly, when Luiz Henrique found the net, 25 minutes in. The momentum was again with Betis, who then scored again courtesy of a goal from Joaquin, 39 minutes in to establish a 2-0 result. Ludogorets in turn, then responded just before half-time, grabbing the lead with an effort from Kiril Despodov, concluding the first half 2-1.

Betis once more applied the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Sergio Canales found the net on the 59 minute mark. In the end though, Ludogorets pull-back via a Rick Lima goal, 75 minutes in, leaving the final score at 3-2.

Substitutions for Betis included Guido Rodriguez, Rodri, German Pezzella, William Carvalho and Alex Moreno for Paul Akouokou, Joaquin, Luiz Felipe, Luiz Henrique and Sergio Canales, respectively. Ludogorets brought on Denny Gropper, Nonato, Spas Delev, Rick Lima and Matias Tissera, to replace Aslak Witry, Show, Kiril Despodov, Bernard Tekpetey and Igor Thiago Nascimento Rodrigues.

There were bookings for Aitor Ruibal, Paul Akouokou, Andres Guardado and Claudio Bravo from Betis, and Show, Kiril Despodov, Bernard Tekpetey and Anton Nedyalkov, for Ludogorets.

Ludogorets and Betis will next play away to Helsinki and Roma respectively.
