Nantes 2 – Olympiacos 1: The Yellow House deliver decisive win at Stade de La Beaujoire

Olympiacos Piraeus open Europa League Group Stage season with a defeat against Nantes. Today’s result, Nantes and Olympiacos currently occupy 1st and 3rd spots in the league, with 3 points and 0 points respectively after 1 match.

The Yellow House started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Mostafa Mohamed found the net on the 32 minute mark to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

Olympiacos started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early calamitous own goal from Samuel Moutoussamy in the 50th minute. Nantes managed to edge ahead with a goal from Evann Guessand just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Nantes included Moses Simon and Moussa Sissoko for Ignatius Kpene Ganago and Samuel Moutoussamy, respectively. Olympiacos brought on Josh Bowler, Aboubakar Kamara and Youssef El Arabi, to replace Giorgos Masouras, Hwang Ui-Jo and Pep Biel.

There were bookings for Moussa Sissoko, Nicolas Pallois and Ludovic Blas from Nantes, and Panagiotis Retsos and Oleg Reabciuk, for Olympiacos.

In the second round of action in the Europa League Group Stage Nantes will travel to play Qarabag FK and Olympiacos will play SC Freiburg at home.
