Malmö 0 – Saint-Gilloise 2: Home advantage neutralised by Belgian

Malmö on Thursday lost to Union Saint-Gilloise on a home defeat at Stadion. Malmö arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 1-0 to Union Berlin in their previous fixture. Saint-Gilloise had managed to pick up a point in their matchup with Sporting Braga. Malmö are now in 4th place, with 0 points from 5 matches, while Saint-Gilloise sit in 1st, with 13 points from 5.

Belgian scored first, when Teddy Teuma found the net, at 10 minutes. Saint-Gilloise then netted once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Jean Thierry Lazare Amani just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Substitutions for Malmö included Erdal Rakip, Jonas Knudsen and Sergio Pena for Oscar Lewicki, Soren Rieks and Hugo Larsson, respectively. Saint-Gilloise brought on Gustaf Nilsson, Cameron Puertas Castro, Simon Adingra, Oussama El Azzouzi and Guillaume Francois, to replace Victor Boniface, Jean Thierry Lazare Amani, Loic Lapoussin, Teddy Teuma and Dante Vanzeir.

There were bookings for Patriot Sejdiu, Mohamed Buya and Sergio Pena from Malmö, and Dante Vanzeir, Cameron Puertas Castro, Siebe Van Der Heyden and Gustaf Nilsson, for Saint-Gilloise.

Malmö will next play Sporting Braga away, with Saint-Gilloise facing Union Berlin at home.
