Lazio 4 – Feyenoord 2: The White and Sky Blues take all 3 points at Stadio Olimpico

Feyenoord Rotterdam open Europa League Group Stage campaign with a defeat against Lazio. Today’s result, Lazio and Feyenoord currently occupy 1st and 4th spots in the league, with 3 points and 0 points respectively after 1 match.

The White and Sky Blues started the first half well, with an early goal from Luis Alberto in the 4th minute. Lazio looked to have the match under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Felipe Anderson, at 15 minutes to establish a 2-0. Lazio then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Matias Vecino in the 28th minute, ending the first half 3-0.

Lazio continued to pile on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded, when Matias Vecino found the net once more, 63 minutes in. However, Feyenoord refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Santiago Gimenez in the 69th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a 2nd effort from Santiago Gimenez just before the full time to give a final score of 4-2.

Substitutions for Lazio included Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Matteo Cancellieri, Toma Basic, Patric and Stefan Radu for Matias Vecino, Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto, Alessio Romagnoli and Adam Marusic, respectively. Feyenoord brought on Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Mats Wieffer, Santiago Gimenez, Oussama Idrissi and Igor Paixao, to replace Sebastian Szymanski, Javairo Dilrosun, Danilo, Patrik Walemark and Quinten Timber.

There were bookings for Felipe Anderson from Lazio. For Feyenoord, Oussama Idrissi saw yellow.

In the second round of action in the Europa League Group Stage Lazio will travel to play FC Midtjylland and Feyenoord will play SK Sturm Graz at home.
