Wigan Athletic on home loss to Stoke City at Dw Stadium on Wednesday. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. Wigan Athletic were looking forward to playing again after losing their last match 1-0 to Watford. Stoke had lost their previous match against Norwich City. Wigan Athletic are now in 22nd place on the table and have 19 points while Stoke sit in 16th with 22 points after 19 matches.

After a goalless first half, Stoke continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Josh Tymon in the 62nd minute, seing the match finish 1-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. Substitutions for Wigan Athletic included Josh Magennis, Charlie Wyke and Thelo Aasgaard for Nathan Broadhead, Tendayi Darikwa and Jordan Cousins, respectively, Stoke brought on Tarique Fosu, William Smallbone and Liam Delap, to replace Josh Tymon, Jordan Thompson and Nick Powell.

There were bookings for Tom Naylor from Wigan Athletic. For Stoke, Jordan Thompson saw yellow.

Wigan Athletic will next travel to Swansea City, while Stoke will face Birmingham City at home.
