Burnley 3-0 Blackburn: Ashley Barnes double guides Clarets to big win

On Sunday, Blackburn Rovers suffered an away defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor. Burnley arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 5-2 to Sheffield United in their previous fixture. Blackburn, meanwhile, had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 1-0 victory against Huddersfield Town. Burnley and Blackburn currently occupy 1st and 3rd spots in the league, with 41 points and 36 points respectively after 21 matches.

Following a goalless first half, The Clarets certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, when Ashley Barnes found the net, 55 minutes in. Burnley looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Anass Zaroury, 74 minutes in to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Ashley Barnes made it 3-0 on the 81 minute mark to make it 3-0.

Substitutions for Burnley included Nathan Tella, Charlie Taylor, Halil Dervisoglu and Johann Gudmundsson for Manuel Benson, Ian Maatsen, Ashley Barnes and Anass Zaroury, respectively. Blackburn brought on Jack Vale, John Buckley and Bradley Dack, to replace Sam Gallagher, Jake Garrett and Lewis Travis.

There were bookings for Jack Cork from Burnley. For Blackburn, Lewis Travis and Daniel Ayala saw yellow.

Burnley will play away against Queens Park Rangers, while Blackburn will face Preston North End at home.
