Preston 2-4 Millwall: The Lions land remarkable road win at Deepdale

Millwall eased past Preston North End in a 4-2 victory on Saturday at Deepdale. North End had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning their previous two matches against Reading away and Swansea City at home, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively while Millwall were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. both teams are now on 31 points and occupy 9th and 6th places respectively after 21 matches.

It was an impressive opening from The Lions, with an early goal from Zian Flemming in the 4th minute. The momentum was again with Millwall, who then scored again courtesy of a effort from Zian Flemming on the 16 minute mark to establish a 2-0 result. However, North End refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Andrew Hughes on the 20 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Ched Evans made it 2-2 on the 28 minute mark, concluding the first half 2-2.

Millwall continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Zian Flemming found the net once more on the 64 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Charlie Cresswell made it 4-2 on the 72 minute mark to make it 4-2.

Substitutions for North End included Benjamin Woodburn, Alvaro Fernandez, Daniel Johnson and Sean Maguire for Alan Browne, Robbie Brady, Ched Evans and Andrew Hughes, respectively. Millwall brought on Scott Malone, Jamie Shackleton, Callum Styles, Tyler Burey and Mason Bennett, to replace George Honeyman, Andreas Voglsammer, George Saville, Zian Flemming and Tom Bradshaw.

There were bookings for Liam Lindsay from North End. For Millwall, George Saville, George Long and Danny McNamara saw yellow.

North End will next travel to Blackburn Rovers, while Millwall will face Wigan Athletic at home.
