West Brom were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last match 2-1 to Blackburn Rovers whilst Cardiff were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Birmingham City. At the moment, West Brom are currently 22nd with 3 points from 4 matches, while Cardiff sit in 6th, with 7 points from 4.

Substitutions for West Brom included Jayson Molumby, Matthew Phillips, Callum Robinson and Adam Reach for Jake Livermore, Jed Wallace, John Swift and Karlan Grant, repectively.
