West Brom 2 – Bournemouth 0: Job done for The Baggies at home to The Cherries

Bournemouth fell to an away defeat at the hands of West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Wednesday. West Brom were looking to get back their winning ways after losing 1-0 to Birmingham City in their last fixture. Bournemouth were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Bristol City and Huddersfield Town. As the table looks today, West Brom are in 11th place on the table and has 57 points while Bournemouth sit in 2nd with 72 points after 30 matches.

The Baggies dominated the first half, with Alex Mowatt giving West Brom the lead in the 9th minute. West Brom then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Andy Carroll in the 13th minute, to take a 2-0 lead into half time. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For West Brom, Jayson Molumby, Callum Robinson and Dara O’Shea, came on for Darnell Furlong, Grady Diangana and Alex Mowatt, Bournemouth brought on Siriki Dembele, Todd Cantwell and Jamal Lowe, to replace Ryan Christie, Lewis Cook and Jaidon Anthony.

There were bookings for Darnell Furlong, Kyle Bartley and Sam Johnstone from West Brom, and Jordan Zemura, Lloyd Kelly and Dominic Solanke, for Bournemouth.

West Brom will play at home against Stoke City, while Bournemouth will face Sheffield United away.
