Watford 2-2 Sunderland: Battling Black Cats earn a point

On Saturday, Watford and Sunderland AFC played out a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road. Watford were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 2-0 to Blackburn Rovers. Sunderland AFC, meanwhile, were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-0 victory against Reading. Watford are now in 9th place, with 14 points from 11 matches, while Sunderland AFC sit in 3rd, with 15 points from 11.

The Hornets started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Keinan Davis gave them the lead on the 34 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Aji Alese equalised for Sunderland AFC just before half-time, ending the first half 1-1.

Watford took the initiative in the second half, when Luke O’Nien found the net, 62 minutes in. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Jewison Bennette equalised for Sunderland AFC just before the full time, seing the match finish 2-2.

Substitutions for Watford included Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Dan Gosling and Christian Kabasele for Hassane Kamara, Keinan Davis and Craig Cathcart, respectively. Sunderland AFC replaced Elliot Embleton, Dan Neill, Jack Clarke, Corry Evans and Alex Pritchard for Amad Traore, Leon Dajaku, Jewison Bennette, Jay Matete and Abdoullah Ba.

The referee booked Patrick Roberts, Corry Evans, Jewison Bennette and Jay Matete for Sunderland AFC.

Watford will play away against Stoke City, while Sunderland AFC will face Preston North End at home.
