Watford 2-0 Reading: Watford up to fifth after beating The Royals

On Tuesday, Reading suffered an away defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Watford arrived at the match looking to pick up more points, following defeat to Coventry City while Reading were beaten 2-1 in their previous match against Preston North End. Watford are now in 5th place on the table and have 32 points while Reading sit in 13th with 26 points after 9 matches.

Watford started the match strongly, when Joao Pedro gave them the lead, 15 minutes in, ending the first half 1-0.

The Hornets continued to pile on the pressure in the second half, when Joao Pedro found the net once more just before the final whistle. The match ended 2-0 to Watford.

Substitutions for Watford included Samuel Kalu, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Mario Gaspar and Tom Dele-Bashiru for Yaser Asprilla, Keinan Davis, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro, respectively. Reading brought on Dean Bouzanis, Mamadou Loum, Yakou Meite and Andy Carroll, to replace Joe Lumley, Sam Hutchinson, Ovie Ejaria and Lucas Joao.

There were bookings for Yaser Asprilla and Ken Sema from Watford, and Ovie Ejaria, Rahman Baba and Mamadou Loum, for Reading.

Next up, Watford are away to Bristol City, whilst Reading will travel to face Hull City.
