Watford 1-0 Burnley: Home victory for The Hornets against The Clarets

Watford snatched all three points from Burnley in a narrow 1-0 victory on Friday, at Vicarage Road. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Watford wanted to improve their league standing after a 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion. Burnley, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their matchup with Luton Town. As things stand, Watford are in 1st place, with 7 points from 3 matches, while Burnley sit in 6th, with 4 points from 3.

Watford started the first half well, when Tom Cleverley gave The Hornets the lead just before halftime With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Watford included Dan Gosling, Vakoun Issouf Bayo, Yaser Asprilla and Christian Kabasele for Tom Cleverley, Ismaila Sarr, Joao Pedro and Hamza Choudhury, repectively. Burnley brought on Jack Cork, Nathan Tella, Jay Rodriguez, Vitinho and Luke McNally, to replace Dara Costelloe, Manuel Benson, Ashley Barnes, Samuel Bastien and Joshua Cullen.

The referee booked Yaser Asprilla from Watford and Hassane Kamara went off with a red card, while Burnley’s Josh Brownhill also received a yellow.

Watford will next travel to Birmingham City, while Burnley will face Hull City at home.
