Swansea 3-2 Reading: Narrow victory for The Swans at home against The Royals

Swansea City’s 3-2 win over Reading on Tuesday, was hard fought at Liberty Stadium. Both teams arrived at the match with previous defeats in the league. Swansea were hoping to get something from this game after losing 4-0 to Burnley in their previous fixture, while Reading were beaten 2-0 in their previous match against West Bromwich Albion. Swansea and Reading currently occupy 7th and 9th spots in the league, with 24 points and 22 points respectively after 16 matches.

Reading started the first half well, when Yakou Meite found the net, at 26 minutes. The Royals looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Tom Ince on the 33 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However, Swansea pull-back just before half-time, with a goal from Harry Darling to see out the first half 2-1.

The Swans continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Oliver Cooper found the net, 60 minutes in. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a goal from Jay Fulton, at 74 minutes to give a final score of 3-2.

Substitutions for Swansea included Armstrong Oko-Flex, Kyle Naughton, Fin Stevens, Olivier Ntcham and Liam Cullen for Nathan Wood-Gordon, Luke Cundle, Armstrong Oko-Flex, Oliver Cooper and Michael Obafemi, respectively. Reading replaced Andy Yiadom, Tyrese Fornah, Yakou Meite and Mamadou Loum for Rahman Baba, Ovie Ejaria, Lucas Joao and Andy Carroll.

There were bookings for Joel Latibeaudiere from Swansea. For Reading, Andy Yiadom saw yellow.

Reading and Swansea will next play at home to Bristol City and Cardiff City respectively.
