Swansea 3 – Coventry 1: The Sky Blues unable to avoid defeat at Liberty Stadium

Swansea City strolled past Coventry City with a 3-1 win on Saturday at Liberty Stadium. Swansea were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 2-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion. Coventry, on the other hand, secured a point against Preston North End in their previous match. As the table looks today, Swansea and Coventry currently occupy 16th and 11th spots in the league, with 44 points and 51 points respectively after 36 matches.

The first half of the game started favourably for The Swans, with Jamie Paterson finding the net at the 12 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Michael Obafemi made it 2-0 just before half-time to secure a 2-0 win.

Swansea staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to an early 2nd effort from Michael Obafemi in the 48th minute. In the end though, Coventry in the 84th minute pull-back via a Gustavo Hamer goal, leaving the final score at 3-1.

For Swansea, Olivier Ntcham, Joel Latibeaudiere and Jay Fulton, came on for Jamie Paterson, Michael Obafemi and Korey Smith. Coventry replaced Matt Godden and Martyn Waghorn with Jake Bidwell and Viktor Gyokeres.

There were bookings for Kyle Naughton and Ben Cabango from Swansea, and Jake Bidwell and Jake Clarke-Salter, for Coventry.

Swansea will next travel to Blackpool, while Coventry will face Sheffield United at home.
