Stoke 0-1 Sunderland: Black Cats deliver another road win as they edge past The Potters

Sunderland AFC strolled past Stoke City with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Bet365 Stadium. Stoke wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough in their previous game. Sunderland AFC, on the other hand, lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Sheffield United. As the table looks today, Stoke are in 20th place, with 4 points from 5 matches, while Sunderland AFC sit in 5th, with 8 points from 5.

Sunderland AFC started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, when Ross Stewart gave Sunderland AFC the lead just before halftime, finishing the first half 1-0. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the match ended 1-0.

Substitutions for Stoke included Dwight Gayle, Sam Clucas, Tyrese Campbell and D’Margio Wright-Phillips for Jacob Brown, William Smallbone, Gavin Kilkenny and Liam Delap, repectively. Sunderland AFC brought on Bailey Wright, Corry Evans and Trai Hume, to replace Luke O’Nien, Jay Matete and Alex Pritchard.

There were bookings for Connor Taylor, Liam Delap and Ben Wilmot from Stoke. For Sunderland AFC, Luke O’Nien, Jay Matete, Elliot Embleton, Bailey Wright, Jack Clarke and Alex Pritchard saw yellow.
