Coventry City beat Stoke City with a 2-0 victory on Saturday at Bet365 Stadium. Stoke were looking forward to playing again after losing 1-0 to Rotherham United in their last match whilst Coventry were coming from consecutive wins against Sheffield United and Cardiff City. Stoke are now in 17th place on the table and have 19 points while Coventry sit in 22nd with 16 points after 17 matches.

After an uneventful first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Coventry who started the second half strongly, when Jamie Allen found the net, 51 minutes in. The Sky Blues then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Gustavo Hamer on the 65 minute mark to make it 2-0.

Substitutions for Stoke included Harry Clarke, Jacob Brown, Nick Powell and Liam Delap for Dujon Sterling, Tyrese Campbell, Dwight Gayle and William Smallbone, respectively. Coventry brought on Martyn Waghorn, Callum O`Hare and Todd Kane for Kasey Palmer, Gustavo Hamer and Fankaty Dabo.

There were bookings for Josh Laurent from Stoke. For Coventry, Kasey Palmer saw yellow.

Stoke will next play Norwich City away, with Coventry facing Blackpool at home.
