Stoke 1-2 Birmingham: Blues get valuable away win at Bet365 Stadium

Birmingham City strolled past Stoke City with a 2-1 win on Saturday at Bet365 Stadium. Stoke had been hopeful of continuing their good run after winning last match. Birmingham, meanwhile, had secured a point against Millwall in their previous match. Stoke are now in 19th place, with 22 points from 20 matches, while Birmingham sit in 11th, with 27 points from 20.

It was an impressive opening from Birmingham, when Scott Hogan found the net, at 13 minutes, finishing the first half 1-0.

Blues continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, with a goal from Harlee Dean, 67 minutes in. The Potters in turn, then responded in the 75th minute, grabbing the lead with an effort from Matthew Baker, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Substitutions for Stoke included Jacob Brown, Liam Delap, Harry Clarke and Tarique Fosu for William Smallbone, Tyrese Campbell, Dujon Sterling and Josh Tymon, respectively. Birmingham brought on Jobe Bellingham, Tahith Chong, Jordan James and Troy Deeney, to replace Juninho Bacuna, Hannibal Mejbri, Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz.

There were bookings for Dujon Sterling, Jordan Thompson and Morgan Fox from Stoke, and Lukas Jutkiewicz, Krystian Bielik, Tahith Chong and Dion Sanderson, for Birmingham.

Stoke will next travel to West Bromwich Albion, while Birmingham will face Sunderland AFC at home.
