Sheffield Utd 3-3 Blackpool: Bramall Lane sees thrilling six-goal draw

On Saturday, Sheffield U and Blackpool played out a 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane. Sheffield U were hoping to get something from this game after losing 3-1 to Stoke City in their previous fixture while Blackpool were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-1 win against Watford in their last match. Sheffield U are now in 2nd place on the table and have 25 points while Blackpool sit in 19th with 16 points after 15 matches.

Sheffield U started the match strongly, when James John McAtee found the net on the 8 minute mark. The Blades looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Iliman Ndiaye in the 24th minute to establish a 2-0. However, Blackpool refused to lie down and managed to pull back a goal from Jerry Yates in the 30th minute. They then scored again, pulling level thanks to a 2nd effort from Jerry Yates just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-2.

Blackpool started the second half with renewed vigour, with an early goal from Kenny Dougall in the 50th minute. In the end though, their lead was short-lived, as Oliver Norwood equalised for Sheffield U just before the final whistle, seing the match finish 3-3.

Substitutions for Sheffield U included Rhian Brewster, Oliver McBurnie, Anel Ahmedhodzic and Reda Khadra for Billy Sharp, Ben Osborn, James John McAtee and George Baldock, respectively. Blackpool brought on Callum Wright, Rhys Williams and CJ Hamilton for Liam Bridcutt, Shayne Lavery and Gary Madine.

The referee booked James John McAtee, George Baldock, Anel Ahmedhodzic, Oliver Norwood and Thomas Doyle from Sheffield U. Blackpool had the worst of it though, with Marvin Ekpiteta and Dominic Thompson seeing yellow, and Marvin Ekpiteta (2 yellow cards) and Dominic Thompson (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Sheffield U will next play Coventry City away, with Blackpool facing Hull City at home.
