Reading 4 – Swansea 4: The Royals held at the Madejski Stadium by The Swans

On Monday, Reading and Swansea were held to a 4-4 draw at the Madejski Stadium. Reading were looking to continue their run, following a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United. Swansea, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. As the table looks today, Reading are in 21st place, with 41 points from 43 matches, while Swansea sit in 13th, with 59 points from 43.
It was an impressive opening from Reading, thanks to an early penalty goal from Lucas Joao in the 4th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Hannes Wolf producing an equaliser 7 minutes into the game, bringing Swansea level. The momentum was now with The Swans, who then scored again through a goal from Joel Piroe at the 11 minute mark to establish a 2-1. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a penalty 2nd effort from Joel Piroe just before half-time. The first half ended 1-3.
Swansea took the lead in the second half, with a goal from Michael Obafemi in the 58th minute. However, The Royals weren’t lying down and managed to pull back a goal from Tom Ince, 61 minutes in. The momentum was now with Reading, who then scored again through a second effort from Lucas Joao, at 71 minutes to establish a 4-3. However they weren’t finished yet and Tom McIntyre made it 4-4 just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-4.
For Reading, Yakou Meite, came on for Junior Hoilett. Swansea replaced Jay Fulton, Olivier Ntcham and Ryan Manning with Flynn Downes, Jamie Paterson and Joel Piroe.
There were bookings for Tom Ince and Michael Morrison from Reading. For Swansea, Flynn Downes, Cyrus Christie, Olivier Ntcham and Michael Obafemi saw yellow.
Reading will next play Hull City away, with Swansea facing Middlesbrough at home.
