Reading 0-3 Sunderland: Black Cats pounce at the Madejski

Sunderland AFC see Reading off 3-0 on Wednesday at the Madejski Stadium. Reading had been hopeful of continuing their good run, following a 2-1 victory against Stoke City, while Sunderland AFC had lost their previous match against Middlesbrough. Reading are now in 4th place on the table and have 15 points while Sunderland AFC sit in 6th with 14 points after 10 matches.

Sunderland AFC found the net first, when Patrick Roberts opened the rout, at 39 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Patrick Roberts made it 2-0 just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-0.

Sunderland AFC continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Jack Clarke on the 69 minute mark, leaving the final score at 3-0.

Substitutions for Reading included Rahman Baba, Yakou Meite and Michael Craig for Mamadou Loum, Sam Hutchinson and Lucas Joao, respectively. Sunderland AFC brought on Elliot Embleton, Jay Matete, Amad Traore and Jewison Bennette, to replace Ellis Reco Simms, Patrick Roberts, Alex Pritchard and Corry Evans.

There were bookings for Andy Yiadom from Reading. For Sunderland AFC, Aji Alese saw yellow.

Next up, Reading are away to Wigan Athletic, whilst Sunderland AFC will travel to face Watford.
