On Tuesday, Reading and Norwich played out a 1-1 draw at the Madejski Stadium. Both Reading and Norwich arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Reading were looking to pick up points after winning their previous two matches in the competition. The most recent was against the Huddersfield Town at home (3-1), the other to Wigan Athletic away (1-0). Norwich were looking to extend their winning run after a 1-0 victory against Blackpool. Reading and Norwich currently occupy 3rd and 2nd spots in the table, with 22 points and 24 points respectively after 13 matches.

After an uneventful first half, whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Norwich who started the second half strongly, with an early goal from Grant Hanley in the 50th minute. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Jeff Hendrick equalised for The Royals on the 60 minute mark, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Both managers used all available substitutions. Substitutions for Reading included Lucas Joao, Amadou Mbengue and Ovie Ejaria for Andy Carroll, Nesta Guinness-Walker and Tyrese Fornah, respectively, Norwich brought on Onel Hernandez, Kieran Dowell and Danel Sinani, to replace Aaron Ramsey, Marcelino Nunez and Teemu Pukki.

There were bookings for Sam Hutchinson, Tom Ince and Junior Hoilett from Reading, and Andrew Omobamidele, for Norwich.

Reading will play away against Queens Park Rangers, while Norwich will face Preston North End at home.
