Reading 1 – Cardiff 2: The Royals suffer home defeat to The Bluebirds

Cardiff City beat Reading with a thumping 2-1 victory on Saturday at the Madejski Stadium. Reading were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Barnsley. Cardiff, on the other hand, were beaten 4-0 in the previous match against Swansea City. As the table looks today, Reading are in 21st place on the table and has 37 points while Cardiff sit in 17th with 49 points after 41 matches.
It was an impressive opening from The Royals, with Lucas Joao giving Reading the lead early in the first half, finishing the first half 1-0.
Cardiff continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Alfie Doughty finding the net at the 59 minute mark. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Will Vaulks just before the final whistle with a final score of 2-1.
Both managers used the full entitlement. For Reading, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Femi Azeez and Brandon Barker, came on for Junior Hoilett, John Swift and Tom Ince, Cardiff brought on Will Vaulks, Isaak Davies and Uche Ikpeazu, to replace Joe Ralls, Alfie Doughty and Jordan Hugill.
The referee booked Perry Ng for Cardiff.
Cardiff and Reading will next play away to Hull City and Sheffield United respectively.
