Preston 0-2 Sheffield Utd: Lilywhites humbled at home by The Blades

North End on home loss to Sheffield United at Deepdale on Saturday. North End were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Burnley. Sheffield U were coming from consecutive wins against Swansea City and Hull City. North End and Sheffield U currently occupy 15th and 1st spots in the league, with 12 points and 23 points respectively after 11 matches.

The Blades found the net first, thanks to a goal from Iliman Ndiaye just before half-time to see out the first half 1-0.

Sheffield U continued to apply pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Oliver McBurnie found the net, 75 minutes in, seing the match finish 2-0.

Substitutions for North End included Ched Evans, Daniel Johnson, Robbie Brady, Sean Maguire and Ryan Ledson for Emil Riis, Ali McCann, Alvaro Fernandez, Troy Parrott and Brad Potts, respectively. Sheffield U brought on Thomas Doyle, Billy Sharp and James John McAtee for Rhian Brewster, Oliver McBurnie and Iliman Ndiaye.

There were bookings for Liam Lindsay from North End, and Oliver McBurnie and Oliver Norwood, for Sheffield U.

North End will next travel to Sunderland AFC, while Sheffield U will face Birmingham City at home.
