Preston North End banked all three points against the Middlesbrough in a 2-1 victory on Saturday, at Deepdale. North End were hoping to get something from this game after losing their last match 4-2 to Blackpool. Boro were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. North End are now in 10th place on the table and have 25 points while Boro sit in 21st with 17 points after 18 matches.

Boro started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Chuba Akpom, at 8 minutes. However, their lead was short-lived, as Emil Riis equalised for The Lilywhites in the 35th minute, which brought Ryan Lowe’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

North End once more applied the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Jordan Storey found the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-1.

Both managers used the full entitlement. Substitutions for North End included Ryan Ledson, Andrew Hughes, Daniel Johnson and Ched Evans for Ben Whiteman, Robbie Brady, Alvaro Fernandez and Benjamin Woodburn, respectively, Boro brought on Marcus Forss and Alex Mowatt to replace Rodrigo Muniz and Riley McGree.
