Peterborough United 5 – Blackpool 0: Bad day for visitors at Abax Stadium

Peterborough United defeat Blackpool 5-0 on Saturday at Abax Stadium. Both teams arrived at the match from previous defeats in the league. Peterborough United arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Millwall whilst Blackpool had lost their previous match against Derby County. This left, Peterborough United and Blackpool are 23rd (34 points) and 16th (60 points) in the league respectively, after a total of 46 matches.

Peterborough United started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, with Jonson Clarke-Harris opening the rout in the 36th minute, seeing out the first half 1-0.

Peterborough United continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Sammie Szmodics finding the net at the 62 minute mark. The momentum was now with Peterborough United, who then scored again through a second effort from Sammie Szmodics, 70 minutes in to establish a 3-0. Peterborough United looked to have the game under control when they scored again and increased their lead, thanks to a goal from Jack Marriott at the 85 minute mark to establish a 4-0. However they weren’t finished yet and Jack Taylor made it 5-0 just before the final whistle with a final score of 5-0.

Peterborough United brought on Jorge Grant, Jack Marriott and Joel Randall for Jeando Fuchs, Jonson Clarke-Harris and Ricky Jade-Jones. Blackpool brought on Marvin Ekpiteta, Luke Mariette and Jake Daniels, to replace Richard Keogh, Sonny Carey and Jerry Yates.
