Norwich 3-1 Stoke: The Canaries race to victory over The Potters

Norwich City beated Stoke City 3-1 on Saturday at Carrow Road. Norwich were aiming to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in their previous game. Stoke had lost their previous match against Coventry City. Norwich are currently 5th with 28 points from 18 matches, while Stoke sit in 19th, with 19 points from 18.

It was an impressive opening from The Canaries, when Aaron Ramsey gave them the lead in the 38th minute to see them go in at half time 1-0 up.

Norwich continued to pile on the pressure in the second period and were rewarded, when Aaron Ramsey found the net once more, at 71 minutes. Norwich looked to have the match under control when they scored again to grab the advantage, thanks to a goal from Gabriel on the 77 minute mark to establish a 3-0. In the end though, Stoke pull-back just before the final whistle, with a goal from Nick Powell, seing the match finish 3-1.

Substitutions for Norwich included Gabriel, Marcelino Nunez, Todd Cantwell and Jordan Hugill for Kieran Dowell, Onel Hernandez, Isaac Hayden and Teemu Pukki, respectively. Stoke brought on Nick Powell, Jordan Thompson, Liam Delap and D’Margio Wright-Phillips, to replace William Smallbone, Lewis Baker, Dwight Gayle and Tarique Fosu.

There were bookings for Kieran Dowell, Onel Hernandez, Sam McCallum, Isaac Hayden, Sam Byram and Grant Hanley from Norwich, and Dwight Gayle and Josh Laurent, for Stoke.

Norwich will next play Queens Park Rangers at home, with Stoke facing Wigan Athletic away.
