Norwich 2-3 Preston: The Lilywhites topple Norwich in thrilling encounter at Carrow Road

Preston North End beat Norwich City with a 3-2 victory on Saturday at Carrow Road. Norwich arrived with the intention of improving their league position following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Reading in their previous game. North End, meanwhile, were coming off the back of a 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion. Norwich are now in 2nd place on the table and have 24 points while North End sit in 8th with 19 points after 14 matches.

Norwich dominated the first half, with an early goal from Josh Sargent in the 2nd minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Emil Riis equalised for North End, 25 minutes in. The first half ended 1-1.

The Lilywhites started the second half with an intensified spirit, when Emil Riis found the net once more, at 51 minutes. However, they were unable to maintain their lead, Gabriel managing to equalize after 76 minutes 2-2. In the end though, North End took the victory via a Troy Parrott goal in the 80th minute, leaving the final score at 3-2.

Substitutions for Norwich included Gabriel, Danel Sinani, Kieran Dowell and Onel Hernandez for Sam Byram, Aaron Ramsey, Marcelino Nunez and Liam Gibbs, respectively. North End brought on Troy Parrott, Benjamin Woodburn, Andrew Hughes, Ryan Ledson and Daniel Johnson, to replace Sean Maguire, Robbie Brady, Gregory Cunningham, Troy Parrott and Ali McCann.

There were bookings for Sam Byram from Norwich. For North End, Robbie Brady, Alvaro Fernandez, Alan Browne, Jordan Storey and Daniel Johnson saw yellow.

Norwich will next play Watford away, with North End facing Stoke City at home.
