Middlesbrough 2-1 Swansea : The Swans succumb to Boro at the Riverside

Middlesbrough strolled past Swansea City with a 2-1 win on Saturday at the Riverside Stadium. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Boro were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Reading. Swansea were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Luton Town. As the table looks today, Boro are currently 19th with 6 points from 6 matches, while Swansea sit in 22nd, with 5 points from 6.

Boro started strongly in the first half, when Riley McGree gave The Boro the lead at the 14 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Matt Crooks made it 2-0 in the 30th minute. The score at half time was 2-0.

Swansea took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Joel Piroe, 79 minutes in. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Boro.

Substitutions for Boro included Rodrigo Muniz, Tommy Smith, Marc Bola and Dael Fry for Duncan Watmore, Matt Crooks, Riley McGree and Ryan Giles, repectively. Swansea replaced Matthew Sorinola, Oliver Cooper and Liam Cullen with Cameron Congreve, Olivier Ntcham and Joe Allen.

The referee booked Alex Mowatt, Matt Crooks, Darragh Lenihan, Liam Roberts and Isaiah Jones from Boro. Swansea had the worst of it though, with Ben Cabango, Nathan Wood-Gordon and Oliver Cooper seeing yellow, and Ben Cabango (2 yellow cards) then sent off with a red.

Next up, Boro are away to Watford, whilst Swansea will travel to face Stoke City.
