Luton 1-1 Sheffield Utd: McBurnie equaliser earns the Blades at point at Luton

Luton were held to 1-1 draw by Sheffield U down on Friday at Kenilworth Road. Both Luton and Sheffield U arrived on the back of wins. Luton were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning last match whilst Sheffield U were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland AFC. Following today’s result, Luton are in 17th place in the table and have 6 points while Sheffield U sit in 1st with 11 points after 6 matches.

The Hatters started the match well, with a goal from Carlton Morris in the 10th minute, saw out the first half 1-0.

Sheffield U staged a comeback in the second half, thanks to a goal from Oliver McBurnie, 53 minutes in, leaving the final score at 1-1.

Luton brought on Cameron Jerome and Luke Berry for Carlton Morris and Luke Freeman. Sheffield U brought on Thomas Doyle, Jordan Amissah, Anel Ahmedhodzic and Rhian Brewster, to replace James John McAtee, Wes Foderingham, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Iliman Ndiaye.

The referee booked four players from Sheffield U, George Baldock, James John McAtee, Oliver McBurnie and Iliman Ndiaye.

Luton will next play Cardiff City away, with Sheffield U facing Reading at home.
