Luton 1 – Huddersfield 1: Goals, but no victory at Kenilworth Road in Championship Semi Final – first leg

A draw doesn’t tell the whole story, Luton are now at a significant disadvantage going into the return leg, with their opponents having gained 1 away goal. Their performance in the next game will have to be sublime, if they are to advance to the final. Carlos Corberan’s squad will be more pleased with this result, knowing that they will next play at home. However the margin of advantage is not huge and both sides will be hungry to advance to the final.

The Terriers started strong and were rewarded for their efforts, thanks to Danel Sinani finding the net in the 12th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Sonny Bradley equalised for The Hatters at the 30 minute mark. The score at half time was 1-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-1.

Luton brought on Tom Lockyer, Danny Hylton and Robert Snodgrass for Henri Lansbury, Reece Burke and Cameron Jerome. Huddersfield brought on Pipa, Jordan Rhodes and Sorba Thomas, to replace Ollie Turton, Danny Ward and Danel Sinani.

There were bookings for Kal Naismith from Luton. For Huddersfield, Jordan Rhodes saw yellow.

It remains too close to call the likely eventual finalist from this pair, but Huddersfield will go into the 2nd leg with a slim advantage. The stakes are high, as with the quality of the teams remaining, so we shall have to wait to see who progresses.
