Huddersfield 0 – Sunderland AFC 2: Visitors ecstatic after win at John Smith’s Stadium

Huddersfield were defeated at home by Sunderland AFC at John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday. Huddersfield were keen to hang onto their position at the top of the table and extend their winning run after winning last match. Sunderland AFC were struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Huddersfield and Sunderland AFC sit 24th, (15 points) and 12th, (24 points), spots respectively, after 19 matches.

After an uneventful first half, Sunderland AFC certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, thanks to a goal from Alex Pritchard, at 55 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Amad Traore made it 2-0 just before the full time to give a final score of 2-0.

Substitutions for Huddersfield included Brahima Diarra, Danny Ward, Connor Mahoney and William Boyle for Yuta Nakayama, Jordan Rhodes, David Kasumu and Ben Jackson, respectively. Sunderland AFC brought on Ellis Reco Simms, Dan Neill, Abdoullah Ba, Jay Matete and Jewison Bennette, to replace Leon Dajaku, Corry Evans, Elliot Embleton, Patrick Roberts and Alex Pritchard.

There were bookings for Etiene Camara and Duane Holmes from Huddersfield, and Danny Batth and Abdoullah Ba, for Sunderland AFC.

Huddersfield will play their next fixture away against Blackburn Rovers, while Sunderland AFC will face Cardiff City at home.
