Huddersfield 0-1 Preston: Visitors secure points at John Smith’s Stadium

Preston North End defeated Huddersfield Town 1-0 on Tuesday at John Smith’s Stadium. Both sides came from defeats in their previous league games. Huddersfield arrived at the match looking to pick up more points after losing 2-1 to Rotherham United in their previous fixture. North End were beaten 2-0 in their previous match against Stoke City. Huddersfield are currently 23rd with 11 points from 16 matches, while North End sit in 7th, with 22 points from 16.

After an uneventful first half, North End certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with an early goal from Gregory Cunningham in the 50th minute. The match ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.

Substitutions for Huddersfield included Jack Rudoni for David Kasumu, respectively. North End replaced Robbie Brady and Sean Maguire with Benjamin Woodburn and Alvaro Fernandez.

There were bookings for David Kasumu, Jordan Rhodes, Duane Holmes, Etiene Camara and Ben Jackson from Huddersfield, and Ryan Ledson, for North End.

North End and Huddersfield will next play away to Blackpool and Middlesbrough respectively.
