Huddersfield 2 – Barnsley 1: Home fans rewarded with victory at John Smith’s Stadium

Huddersfield Town strolled past Barnsley with a 2-1 win on Friday at John Smith’s Stadium. Huddersfield were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough. Barnsley were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Peterborough United. After today’s result, Huddersfield and Barnsley sit 3rd, (76 points) and 24th, (30 points), in the table respectively, after 44 matches.
Huddersfield started the game well, with Jordan Rhodes finding the net early in the first half. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Harry Toffolo just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.
The Tykes took the lead in the second half, thanks to Callum Styles finding the net just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 2-1.
Huddersfield brought on Scott High, Josh Ruffels and Fraizer Campbell for Danel Sinani, Harry Toffolo and Duane Holmes. Barnsley brought on Isaac Christie-Davies, Callum Styles and Aaron Leya Iseka, to replace Matty Wolfe, Domingos Quina and Cauley Woodrow.
The referee booked Matty Wolfe, Liam Kitching and Romal Palmer for Barnsley.
Huddersfield will play their next fixture away against Coventry City, while Barnsley will face Preston North End at home.
